Electric reach trucks are electrically powered warehouse vehicles designed to lift pallets into high-bay racking systems. Alwark supplies R-Series reach trucks from Linde Material Handling, ranging from compact R10B–R16B models with lift heights of up to 7,710 mm and lifting capacities of 1,000–1,600 kg, to higher-capacity R14–R25 models with lift heights of up to 14,955 mm and lifting capacities of up to 2,500 kg. R-Series reach trucks are designed for operation in narrower warehouse aisles, where conventional counterbalance forklifts may be less efficient.

• Lift heights from 7 m to almost 15 m – R10B–R16B and R14G–R20G models offer lift heights of up to 7,710 mm, Ri14–Ri18 models up to 11,000 mm, R14–R17X models up to 12,755 mm, and R14–R25 models up to 14,955 mm. The appropriate model depends on the highest racking level and the required lifting capacity at that height.
• Lifting capacities from 1.0 to 2.5 tonnes – Compact models can lift up to 1,600 kg, mid-range models up to 2,000 kg, while R14–R25 and R20F–R25F models can handle up to 2,500 kg. When selecting equipment, it is important to consider the maximum load weight and how the lifting capacity changes at greater heights.

What Is the Difference Between a Reach Truck and a Forklift?

A counterbalance forklift is a more versatile type of warehouse equipment used for pallet transportation and lifting to medium-height racking. An electric reach truck is better suited for high-bay racking and narrower aisles. This type of equipment is commonly used in warehouses where efficient use of vertical space and greater lift heights are important. Many warehouses use both types of equipment: forklifts for loading areas and lower-level operations, and reach trucks for work in racking aisles.

What Lift Height Do I Need?

For warehouses with racking up to 7.7 m, R10B–R16B or R14G–R20G models are commonly selected. Ri14–Ri18 models are designed for operations up to 11 m, R14–R17X models for heights up to 12.7 m, while R14–R25 models are suitable for higher racking. When selecting equipment, it is important to consider not only the maximum racking height but also the load weight at the required lifting height, as lifting capacity may decrease as the height increases. R20F–R25F models can operate at heights of up to 9,650 mm with a lifting capacity of up to 2.5 tonnes.

Which Reach Truck Is Suitable for Narrow Warehouse Aisles?

R-Series reach trucks are designed for operation in narrow warehouse aisles. Their reach mechanism extends forward, reducing the need for the machine itself to manoeuvre around the pallet. The required aisle width depends on the pallet dimensions, load centre, and specific reach truck design. Alwark’s technical team can select the appropriate model based on the warehouse layout to ensure safe and efficient operation.

Which Battery Should You Choose – Lead-Acid or Lithium-Ion?

R-Series reach trucks can be equipped with lead-acid (LAB) or lithium-ion batteries. Lead-acid batteries are commonly used for single-shift operations and are generally charged during longer periods of downtime. They also require a properly ventilated charging area in accordance with EN 50272-3. Lithium-ion batteries allow opportunity charging during operation and are therefore often selected for multi-shift operations where minimising downtime and battery changes is important.

Can You Purchase a Used Reach Truck?

Yes. Alwark performs a 40-point inspection on used equipment and provides a 3-month or 300 operating-hour warranty, whichever comes first. Used R-Series reach trucks are often selected when warehouse parameters and operational requirements are already known, but investing in new equipment is not necessary. The availability of specific models depends on current inventory, so options are provided based on the technical requirements of the enquiry.

Can Reach Trucks Be Rented, and What Warranty Applies?

Alwark offers both short-term and long-term reach truck rental. Short-term rental is commonly chosen for seasonal peaks or project-based work, while long-term rental (12–60 months) generally includes preventive maintenance and, when required, replacement equipment in the event of a breakdown.

New equipment is covered by the Linde manufacturer’s warranty. Spare parts generally come with a 6–12-month warranty, while selected parts may be covered for up to 5 years. Service work is covered by a 6-month workmanship warranty. Service support is available throughout the Baltic region through regional service centres.
