Electric pallet trucks are designed for transporting pallets. They are suitable for loading, unloading, sorting, and other material handling operations. Electric pallet trucks are manoeuvrable and convenient to use in various indoor and outdoor environments.

Pallet trucks, also known as pallet jacks, are designed for the horizontal transport of EURO and industrial pallets in warehouses, retail, manufacturing, and loading areas. Alwark supplies Linde and Logitrans models, ranging from basic manual pallet trucks to electric models with operator platforms, as well as high-lift models and mechanical versions with integrated scales. Lifting capacities reach up to 3 tonnes, while lift heights range from the standard 115 mm to 715 mm for high-lift models.

• Manual or electric – Manual pallet trucks are generally less expensive to purchase and are mainly used for shorter distances within warehouses. Electric models are more commonly selected when loads need to be transported over longer distances or when a large number of pallets are moved during a shift.
• Standard or high-lift – Standard models raise the pallet only as much as required for safe floor-level transportation (approximately 115 mm). High-lift models allow the load to be raised to a more ergonomic working height, making them particularly suitable for packing, picking, or production areas.
• Platform version for longer distances – Models with a foldable operator platform allow the operator to travel standing on the machine rather than walking alongside it. Linde Material Handling T-Series platform models can reach speeds of up to 8.5 km/h without a load. These models are generally selected for intensive operations and longer transport routes within warehouses.
• Specific requirements – The range includes models with integrated digital scales for weighing loads during transportation, extended forks for transporting two pallets, and reinforced models for intensive industrial applications. For loads exceeding the capacity of pallet trucks, electric forklift trucks are generally the preferred solution.

How Does a Pallet Truck Differ from a Stacker?

A pallet truck is designed for the horizontal transportation of pallets. It raises the load only enough for safe movement at floor level and is primarily used to transport pallets from one location to another. Electric stackers are designed not only for transportation but also for lifting pallets to greater heights and placing them in racking systems. Simply put, pallet trucks are mainly used for floor-level transportation, while stackers are intended for servicing higher warehouse racking.

Should You Choose a Manual or Electric Pallet Truck?

Manual pallet trucks are generally selected for shorter distances, smaller warehouses, and lower-intensity operations. Electric models are more suitable when loads are transported over longer distances or when a larger number of pallets need to be moved during a shift. In high-throughput logistics and distribution centres, electric pallet trucks are often used alongside order pickers and other warehouse equipment.

When Is a High-Lift Model Worth Choosing?

High-lift pallet trucks allow pallets to be raised to a more ergonomic working height of approximately 670–715 mm. These models are particularly useful when the pallet itself serves as the working surface, for example in packing, picking, assembly, or maintenance areas. This allows one machine to perform both transportation and work-height adjustment functions, reducing the need for additional ergonomic equipment.

Does an Electric Pallet Truck Operator Need Training?

Yes. Electric pallet truck operators are subject to occupational safety requirements and must be properly trained to operate the equipment in accordance with applicable workplace safety regulations and industrial truck standards, including EN ISO 3691-1. A formal operator certificate is generally not required for manual pallet trucks, but employers must still ensure that employees receive appropriate safety instruction and are trained in the safe use of work equipment. In some cases, long-term rental agreements may also include operator training.

Can a Pallet Truck Be Rented, and What Warranty Applies?

Alwark offers both short-term and long-term pallet truck rental. Short-term rental is commonly chosen for peak seasons or project-based work, while long-term rental (12–60 months) generally includes preventive maintenance and, when required, replacement equipment in the event of a breakdown.

New equipment is covered by the respective Linde or Logitrans manufacturer’s warranty. Used equipment undergoes a 40-point inspection and is covered by a 3-month or 300 operating-hour warranty, whichever comes first. Spare parts generally come with a 6–12-month warranty, while selected parts may be covered for up to 5 years. Service work is covered by a 6-month workmanship warranty. Service support is available throughout the Baltic region.
